Fly Corvette C5 #03-A561

This latest offering from Fly is different to say the least. Although I feel it is directed specifically to the collector, it still deserves a quick look. After all, there are more collectors out there than most people think.

Now some of you might argue that fact, but from what I have seen...especially in the last year or so...it is true. I have met individuals with massive collections and not a foot of track in sight, and even if there were they have no intentions of running them. At least 3 or 4 that I have met that did have a track, it is basically nothing more than a diorama for them to take photos of the model. Now there is nothing wrong with that really...if that is the way they enjoy slot cars, good for them.

This release by Fly will certainly find its way into the hands of these enthusiasts among a few others. Hopefully the photos tell the most of the story for you, for I won't bother with discussing any scale issues it may or may not have.

Thelma and Louise (at least that is what I call them) seem to be having a pretty care-free time in their Corvette. For this type of model I suppose Fly could have placed just about any type of figures in the seats...but it seems like women with their hair blowing in the breeze is a popular choice. Aside from the interior which is nicely detailed, Fly has even done some work underneath on the chassis. This does add a slight increase in the appeal of the model if nothing else.

Is it really a collectable? I will leave that up to you. Some of you will dismiss models like this immediately, but if you have even the slightest collector interest you might want to give it a second look. I have seen enthusiasts pass on such models like this from other companies such as Carrera, only to see that model rise in value...sometimes 4 to 5 times its initial cost. If you are into collecting and want to add another model that has its own identity, this release from Fly certainly qualifies.
