Quick 1/24 Wheel Insert Guide
This is a quick look at how we use inserts. Inserts are simply the inner part of the wheel that adds the detail of scale to our builds. You can either use the ones that came with your model kit, or buy them from various after-market vendors.
Shown here is a H&R racing rear wheel. On the right is a wheel insert.
The insert just slides into place. I like to use hot glue to secure them. Just a good drop on the back of the insert then press it into place.
The insert will sit flush most times as shown. You can trim the outer lip away if you want the insert to sit farther down in the wheel.
Once painted the inserts really add scale detail to your models.
