3D in Detroit!

5 years ago I designed the 3D Motor Speedway to fit my basement and had Steve Ogilvie from Canada build my current track. The track is four lanes with 4" lane spacing and has a lap length of 120'. The track is powered with a custom Prof. Motor power supply which has four separate, independently adjustable supplies built into one unit. The track timing and scoring is handled by dead-strips and a pc with the AutoTrack system.

As you can see in the photos the basement is a comfortable setup which includes a 27' TV, table & chairs, sofa and a couple of showcases filled with  60's vintage slot kits, and packaged bodies, chassis', motor's, wheel's and components. The basement still has my work room and utility room which sometimes gets pressed into duty as pit space or buffet area.

Our group of racer's came together several years ago and we were primarily a vintage slot club which met on a monthly basis at the Novi Motorsports Museum. We have since started to run all of the fine 1/32 scale Euro slots almost exclusively and really have a blast opening them up on some of the big routed home tracks which are growing in number here in the Detroit area. At least two new routed Ogilvie tracks will be finding new homes in local basements very soon.

I have to say that this track certainly looks like a blast to drive on. From my point of view, this is sort of my "dream track" as to the space and set-up of the area. I think I could have fun there don't you? This is dedicated slot-racing folks, pure and simple! Let's not forget how knowledgeable and helpful 3D is in all the message forums. It is people like him, and those who race with him that help those of us just starting out with a virtual vault of information.

I appreciate his efforts, and glad to feature his track on our small site.
