The Ninco Arrows F-1 is a fine car in its own right. Although not a radical change from the one released a few years ago, it is still a nice-looking, smooth performer.
With the release of the Scalextric Sport F-1 models, the Ninco version needed a little "help" to keep up with the newer Sport cars.
There isn't much room, but I found one modification I could make that did manage to help even the field.
The car is in it's familiar inline drive configuration with the reliable NC-2 motor as standard power. This set up does not leave you much room to work with as you can see. However, there is an area in the front that you can add a little extra down-force.
In the front, where the mounting hole for attaching the car to the display box is, can be enlarged to fit a Fly or Scalextric button magnet fairly easy. All it takes is a little sanding to get it to fit inside the chassis to clear the body.
Using a Dremel or similiar moto-tool, you can sand this area enough to fit a magnet perfectly. It does not take a great deal of sanding or time either. Using the Dremel bit shown, it only took me a few seconds to have this area for the magnet.
And that's it. A simple, easy and quick upgrade that helps your Ninco F-1 keep pace with the Sport F-1's. The Sport cars still have a slight advantage, yet this modification really closes the gap. It creates a real close match, and may allow some of you with greater driving skill, to pit yourself against someone who is just beginning, and still have a challenging race.
It isn't a huge modification, yet one that seems to work. It should not take you a great deal of time to accomplish it either.
The other upgrade I can easily suggest is silicone tires. With this modification performed and silicone tires added, this Ninco keeps pace with the Sport F-1 quite nicely.
The Ninco F-1 is a smooth runner, and with only a little "adjustments" can keep up with any of the F-1 models offered today.
Try it, and let me know your scores and results!
We will post your findings in the Message Forum!
